RV (2006)

What do you get when you combine Robin Williams with a dysfunctional family set for a vacation? A comedy that is sure to keep you entertained.

Robin Williams plays Bob Munro who changes his families vacation from Hawaii to an RV ("the big rolling turd") roadtrip to Colorado. And the more the family learns about each others problems, the more they seem to like and understand each other.

Johnson Family Vacation

Nothing like a road trek with the family on the way to a family reunion to bring some laughter and fun into movie entertainment. Especially with Cedric the Entertainer supplying the laughs, this movie fits all of the profanity free family fun as National Lampoon's Vacation movies.

The Great Outdoors

John Candy with a family on vacation? What could go wrong? Then add Dan Akroyd to the mix and you have a funny movie.

This movie is about a man who wants a peaceful family vacation in the woods but ends up with unexpected relatives and lots of problems. The best part of this movie is John Candy and his comedic portrayal of a heartfelt dad just trying to have time with his family.

And a favorite in our family at Christmas time is Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. While the first one isn't about the vacation, but the boy who got left home while his family left for the vacation, it fits in the Vacation movies as it is one more comedy that has a vacation gone wrong.

This movie includes humor as well as heartfelt moments. With an 8 year old who outsmarts 2  burglars who seem to be clueless and have a slapstick type comedy, this one is a classic that young and old can enjoy.

The 2nd in the series, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, had big shoes to fill trying to live up to the first. By taking Kevin McCallister to adventure on his own vacation, it fulfills all expectations in a different environment. Sure to entertain, the Home Alone movies remain a favorite in many families.

This 1962 film starring James Stewart is a typical family vacation gone wrong with Mr. Hobbs just wanting to get away and enjoy his family. This is fun to watch if you enjoy classics or just want to muse at how so much has changed while at the same time, not much has changed!

The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming (1966)

This family vacation on an island is interrupted by a Russian submarine. Old fashioned humor bringing out issues of the day, through humor and still entertaining.
