December

December is the 12th and last month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and the Julian Calendar. December has 31 days and is the beginning of winter in the northern hemisphere and summer in the southern hemisphere. December is also the month that has the shortest amount of daylight hours in the northern hemisphere and the longest amount of daylight hours in the southern hemisphere. December is named from the latin word decem which means ten because it was originally the 10th month in the roman calendar before January and February were added.
