Holidays & Observances in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a Southeastern European country near the Adriatic Sea. The country is very diverse, populated by people of several different ethnicities and religions. This has caused plenty of conflict in the recent past, and tensions between the differing peoples is still prevalent. Today Bosnia and Herzegovina must have 3 different presidents, one to represent each of the three largest ethnic groups. Islam and Eastern Orthodox Christianity are the two most popularly practiced religions, and the holidays for both of those groups are important to the culture. Christian groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrate several important feast days not commonly celebrated elsewhere.
