Holidays & Observances in Gambia

The Gambia is a West African country that takes up the land around Gambia River. It is almost completely surrounded by Senegal. It is made up of many different tribes who have held tight to their traditions. Indigenous languages are widely spoken, but many people in the urban areas also speak English or French. About 90% of the population practices Islam, so Islamic holidays are celebrated all across the nation.
