Holidays & Observances in Bhutan
Bhutan is an Asian country located between China and India. About 70% percent of the population practices Buddhism, which is an important part of the daily life of all Bhutanese people. Most of the rest of the country is Hindu, but many of these citizens follow some traditions of Buddhism and participate in festivals and customs of the religion. Most of the holidays and festivals celebrated around the country are based in Buddhist traditions. Masked dances are often a part of the celebration. Another important aspect of Bhutanese life is sport. Many of the most important holidays include a competition of archery, the official sport of Bhutan.
