Revolution Day celebrates a 10-year revolution that began in 1910. The revolution was fought to overthrow Dictator Porfirio Diaz and instate democracy in Mexico. November 20, the actual date of the start of the revolution used to be the date of the celebration each year, but it was changed to the third Monday in November in 2005 to allow people a day off of work and school and give them a long weekend.
