Easy Ways to Get into the Christmas Spirit
Thanksgiving is over, so that means pretty much everyone is ready to sing Jingle Bells while nibbling on candy canes and wearing their Christmas sweaters. It can be kind of annoying if you’re not quite feeling the spirit yet. You’re probably not going to get everyone else to stop their festivities, so since you can’t beat them, this is the time to join them! Here are some great ways to get that Christmas feeling if you want to catch up to all your friends!
1. Decorate your space
This is probably pretty obvious, but it’s also the best way to literally surround yourself with Christmas. If you’re environment feels festive, most likely you will too. This is going to take some effort on your part, but I promise it will be worth it.
2. Go to some local Christmas events
Concerts, markets, plays, or parades: your local area probably has tons of them all, starting after Thanksgiving and going through the month of December. Most choirs will have Christmas shows, tons of local theaters will be performing holiday plays, and not to mention countless other events that will be put on this time of year. Here you’ll be surrounded by people celebrating the season in a fun and festive way!
3. Do some baking
One of the best parts of any holiday is that it gives you an excuse to eat the delicious foods of the season. Bake some yummy Christmas cookies or other special holiday treats to remind yourself that this is a time to indulge. Bonus: you can share some of your treats with all your friends to get into to giving spirit of this time of year.
4. Enjoy holiday specials at your favorite restaurants
Speaking of food, most restaurants offer all kinds of limited time treats at this time of year. Not only are these kinds of treats delicious and festive, they also remind you that this season is a special time. Eating something you know you won’t be able to get again next month helps you feel like you’re in an important time of the year.
5. Listen to Christmas music
Again, I know this seems obvious, but it really works! Switch your default car radio station to a holiday one and you’ll be singing those holiday tunes in your head and dreaming of a white Christmas yourself in no time. If you’re not a fan of traditional Christmas music, there’s still something out there for you to love! Look up recent Christmas albums and you’ll find all kinds of new takes on the classic holiday genre.
6. Start your Christmas wrapping early
If you’re like me, you probably don’t get most of your Christmas wrapping done until Christmas Eve. That’s all fine, but having your presents wrapped and ready to be slipped under the tree will you make you feel the anticipation for Christmas more than anything else.
