Holidays & Observances in Cameroon
Cameroon is a diverse country in West Africa. It is made up of over a hundred different ethnic groups with different customs, cultures and more than 20 separate languages. Many of the different tribes have separate leaders responsible for the political and traditional beliefs of their people. Holidays and festivals are celebrated differently throughout all the different tribes. Probably the most widely celebrated holidays are religious ones. Though most Cameroonians continue to practice their traditional beliefs, Christianity and Islam are both commonly practiced on their own and in combination with other beliefs.
