Holidays & Observances in Libya
Libya is an Arabic country in North Africa. It has many different ethnic groups with different traditions and customs. The uniting factor is Islam. Almost all Libyan people are Muslims, so Islamic customs govern all aspects of life. Though ties with Islamic tradition are strong, Libya also has cultural elements in line with the modern western world. It has a high literacy rate and a strong economy despite the civil unrest the country has been facing in the past few years. Islamic holidays are important and widely celebrated across the country.
