Fall (Autumnal) Equinox

  • On or near September 22 in the Northern Hemisphere in the regions of U.S., Central America, Canada, Europe, Asia and Northern Africa. 
  • On or around March 19, 20, or 21 in the Southern Hemisphere in the regions of Australia, New Zealand, South America and southern Africa.

 

The Fall Season is followed by Winter, Spring & Summer. The 4 seasons are based on how the earth orbits the sun with the equinoxes being the time when the sun is directly over the equator where day and night are closest to being equal with approximately 12 hours each.
