Veterans Day / Armistice Day / Remembrance Day
Veterans Day, also known as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, celebrates and honors all those who have served in the Military, specifically from World War I through today. This is a day for people to thank those men and women for their service. Many businesses and schools are closed on this day, and some public celebrations are arranged. November 11th was chosen for this holiday because of an armistice of World War I between Germany and the Allied Nations. It came into effect at 11:00 on 11/11 1918. Countries around the world celebrate the holiday on this date which marks the anniversary of the formal ending of the war.
