All is Ours Day is one of the more unique holidays. Celebrated each year on April 8th, this holiday was created to show appreciation for all that is around us. Instead of having only one way to celebrate this holiday there are three. No matter which of the three ways to show appreciation you choose today is a day to refocus and recharge.
The first way to celebrate All is Ours Day is to reflect on nature around us. Many of us often find ourselves in nature but how often do we actually stop to appreciate the beauty of nature around us? Something as simple as flowers planted at a local park can surprise us and make our day. For those of us who may not have nature so readily available, today is a day to venture out. You can explore a national park or a trail system your city may have implemented nearby. Whether we are looking up and appreciating the nature above us or looking down at our feet to appreciate the nature below us, taking in our surroundings is a gift that we should never take for granted.
The second way to celebrate All is Ours Day is simply appreciation! Some of us have a lot of things, some of us don’t have any. Whatever we have today is a day to appreciate what we have. This can extend to people in our lives as well. Every person in our lives should be appreciated for being there and what they do for us. You can show your appreciation by thanking these people or perhaps making them something nice like a card so they have a physical token of your appreciation. This holiday may also be a perfect time to take stock of what you do have and maybe getting rid of some things to give to those who do not have as much you.
The third and final way to celebrate All is Ours Day is by sharing. It doesn’t matter what we have or what we don’t, sharing always makes the worst times easier and builds teamwork. This can be as simple as sharing a smile with someone or maybe sharing a seat on a crowded subway. You can combine this approach with approach #2 and share something you own. You could also share a meal with someone you may not have normally thought to share a meal with. You can also share your celebration on social media. Make sure to use the hashtag #NationalAllIsOursDay to share how you’re celebrating and connect with others who are celebrating. You may just find a community of people that you can celebrate with next All is Ours Day. The greatest things in life are things that are shared with those around us!
