Angelman Syndrome Day is a holiday dedicated to raising awareness about Angelman Syndrome, or AS, a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by missing genes from Chromosome 15, which is usually inherited from the mother. People with this disorder often have developmental delays, sleep issues, difficulty walking, and frequent seizures. It is similar to Autism or cerebral palsy and is often misdiagnosed. This syndrome is much less-known than similar syndromes, so February 15th is a day to raise awareness among a wider audience. Donations for Angelman Syndrome are needed to help families care for their children with the syndrome, who require lifelong care and funding research towards a possible cure. Celebrate this holiday by making a contribution today.
