Apple Tree Day originally started out as a celebration of an old apple tree that was almost two centuries old, however the day has now grown to become a celebration of the apple itself.
It is unknown which exact tree the holiday is based around. (although it has been suggested that it was either the Original Bramley apple tree, or Granfer's apple tree, both of which stood for over two centuries.) Regardless, the holiday stands strong as a means of celebrating the wonderful taste of apples.
Ways to Celebrate
Planting an apple tree, of course, is the best way to celebrate the holiday. Though if you don’t have the means to do so, you can always simply be eating fresh apples from your local grocery store. You could also celebrate by eating apples in their various forms as well. Having some cider or apple juice as a nice beverage could work. Treat yourself to some apple dumplings, apple pie, apple cake, or even a caramel dunked apple.
