Where would we be without books? Better yet, where would we be without the guys that help publish those books? Book Publisher Day helps us give recognition to those hard working book publishers. They help us get those books we love so dear to the comfort of our shelves and hands. What better way than to show this appreciation every January 16th?
Well, what is a book publisher? A book publisher is someone who is responsible for distributing books. They go out of their way to find good authors to put out the work for others to read. Without a book publisher, books that are often seen within stores like Barnes & Noble wouldn't be there. Without a book publisher, many authors would be without the ability to get their stories out there for people to read. Which would mean less people could enjoy stories made by those good ol' word smiths.
History of Publishing
Book publishers have a long standing history of being around! Long before the printing press was invented, scribes would sit down and hand copy the works of other authors. In the 1450s, when the printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg, it sparked a new age of book publishing. Thank God, am I right? With the printing press giving a new tool to book publishers, the Era of books being widely distributed broke into a wildfire. Thus during the 1800s when the printing press was given a new model, over 20 popular books were printed. Since then, the number of books printed and distributed by book publishers has grown as the process grew to be easier and more efficient. It is thanks to book publishers that we are able to enjoy the words of others in such a massive manner, allowing us to kick back and enjoy a good book.
Book publishers are a key function in our world. Without them, a lot of knowledge wouldn't be here. Teaching children the importance of book publishers is a must, as without them we wouldn't be able to learn. Many families in the world would be empty without those books that allow us to learn, so let us give our appreciation to book publishers! Happy Book Publisher Day.
