Where would we be without cars? They make transportation easier and faster in ways that people a few hundred years ago could never have imagined. But there’s a downside to cars as well. Our current level of car ownership is a huge strain on the planet, adding to greenhouse gasses and carbon emissions. Car Free Day is a holiday that encourages people to go without their car for at least one day. Doing this can reduce your carbon footprint and help you develop better habits in the long run. In many cases, cars aren’t totally necessary to commute around town. You can take public transportation, walk, or ride your bike almost just as easily as you can drive. If you must drive to work, try setting up carpools with your coworkers so that you are reducing the amount cars on the road.
