Most people would agree that having fun is an essential part of your day. Fun Day is a day to ensure that you have fun for the entire day. We need a little unstructured fun in our days in order to make them memorable. In today’s fast paced world of deadlines, constant pressure to achieve, and stress, having fun is often considered the least important part of the day. The constant stress of a lifestyle such as this has negative long term effects on your physical and emotional health. Fun Day is a day to take a break from these stressors and spend time doing what you enjoy or maybe discovering what you enjoy to do.
Why We Need a Fun Day
Spending time doing a less stressful activity such as reading or playing a game has a wide variety of benefits on your health. Doing an activity that you choose will lower your stress levels and make you more relaxed. Stress has more negative effects on your health than you may realize. Stress weakens your immune system, making you far more likely to get sick and remain sick. Doing a fun activity that reduces stress can also strengthen your immune system, keeping you healthy for those more stressful moments. Instead of viewing taking a break to do these fun activities as a waste of time you should see them as a means to ensure your future. By having fun you are ensuring that you stay healthy so you will take less sick days, resulting in being more productive at work, which may lower your stress as well.
Stress also has a negative effect on your appearance. When you are stressed your skin loses its healthy complexion and acne breakouts are more common. Some people form bags under their eyes when they become stressed, and constant stress makes it harder to remove these. High stress can also lead to insomnia and no amount of makeup can cover an exhausted face. When you reduce your stress by performing activities that make you feel good, you'll look good as well. Being happy inside is one of the easiest ways to look happy and good outside.
Having fun is an obvious boost to your mood as well. Every time you smile during an activity, your body releases endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals released by the brain that make you feel happy and satisfied. While there are a variety of ways to release endorphins, such as running and eating chocolate, doing an activity such as painting or knitting can have a similar effect with half the effort.
Fun Day doesn’t have to be celebrated alone, in fact it’s better in a group! Having fun with a group of friends helps to create bonds that bring people together. Having fun with others brings nothing but positive benefits and creates lasting memories. Fun Day may be April 1st but that doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate it all year round with those that you love!
