International Bat Night is a European holiday that raises awareness about protecting the habitats of Bats across the continent. Many organizations and individuals host events and bat walks on this night to see bats and educate people about bats and the environments they live in. Many people have a negative view of bats because of their activity in the nighttime and their connection with vampires. But in reality, bats are harmless to people. In fact bats can be extremely helpful to farmers and other people by keeping the insect population in check and pollinating plants. Unfortunately their habitats are at risk, and the negative perception people have of them have kept us from taking the proper measures to protect them. International Bat Night is a night to help people understand the importance of preserving the habitats of bats everywhere.
