All of us have gone grocery shopping at one time or another, but how many of us have thanked the people who have made grocery shopping possible? Not just the cashiers and the baggers but the people who stock the shelves and make sure that grocery shopping is as easy as possible. Love Your Produce Manager Day was created to help celebrate and appreciate the people who are in charge of the area we see as soon as we enter the store; the produce section. This holiday was created in 2012 to celebrate all the hard work these produce managers do in order to make sure the produce section remains tidy and inviting. A typical shopper rarely sees a produce manager in person, they often work behind the scenes within a grocery store administration staff. They have a wide variety of choices to make such as what kinds of produce their store will carry and where they will get this produce. The next time you are in a grocery store take a second to look around and see just how many options your local produce manager has created for you.
What a Produce Manager Does
Produce managers are also responsible for the more exotic selections we see in the produce section. One such example is the kiwi. This is a fruit from New Zealand that most of us are now familiar with. This is thanks to our produce managers who have ensured that kiwi is often featured in produce sections. Fruit such as this only find their way into produce sections due to the demand of their customers so thank your produce manager for listening to your requests as well.
As well as making sure a wide variety of fruit is ordered, produce managers have to set up displays. Next time you are in a store, look around at the colors surrounding you. Each fruit was arranged with careful consideration by your produce manager. Any handwritten signs were no doubt created by your produce manager as well. Making sure the produce section looks presentable takes time and effort and often goes unnoticed. There are a variety of ways you can change that today. One way of recognizing your produce manager is by asking your produce manager what is new for that day. They will be able to show you the freshest fruits, new suppliers and maybe even a new fruit you haven’t even heard of before. They appreciate feedback about what you like and maybe what you don’t like. After all, the produce section wouldn’t even exist without consumers like you.
Another way to celebrate is to bring in a simple card or thank you note for your produce manager. They will appreciate the effort and the fact that you’ve recognized their efforts. Be sure to bring in suggestions for what you would like to see in the store, it may be something they have never heard of either! Love Your Produce Manager Day may only be once a year but you should celebrate your produce manager and all the work that they do everyday throughout the year.
