Lung Health Day is a holiday dedicated to promoting healthier lung practices. Most people know that smoking is the worst thing you can do to your lungs, so this is a day to work towards quitting if you are a smoker. But did you know that there are other things you should be doing to protect your lungs? Pollutants and dangerous chemicals can be just as harmful to your lungs as cigarette smoke, so try to avoid areas of high pollution and using strong chemicals around your house. Another way to improve lung health is to do breathing exercises daily. This can make your lungs stronger and decrease your risk of lung disease. Lung Health Day takes place on the Wednesday of Respiratory Care Week, which is the last full week of October. October is also Healthy Lung Month.
