Peace Corp Day is actually a week long recognition. Peace Corps Week commemorates President John F. Kennedy’s establishment of the agency on March 1, 1961, and celebrates all the ways that the Peace Corps makes a difference at home and abroad.
The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves with communities abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle challenges of our generation.

To promote world peace and friendship by fulfilling three goals:
To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the people served.
To help promote a better understanding of other people on the part of Americans.
