Scrabble Day celebrates the popular board game on the birthday of it's inventor, Alfred Mosher Butts. This popular game consists of lettered tiles that are placed on a grid gameboard. It is played with 2 or more players and the goal is to score the most points from the words a player forms as they are placed on the board in a crossword pattern.
Scrabble is sold in over 120 countries worldwide where over 150 million sets have been sold. It is estimated that 1/3 of all American homes have a Scrabble set.
How to Celebrate Scrabble Day
Play Scrabble with your friends and family, of course!
Have a Scrabble party. Set up multiple game boards and limit each game to a specific time period so that you can move on to the next game and switch boards. Then the person with the most points at the end of the party, wins!
Find a club tournament in your local area and join
Find an online game or app and play digitally
If you are alone, you can still play Scrabble! Have you ever gotten out the gameboard and just played as all 4 players? It's fun, try it!
