Cars are amazing modern conveniences that can make traveling long distances much easier. But using cars and public transportation have made walking to work almost completely extinct. There are tons of proven health benefits from walking 30-60 minutes each day, but most people can’t fit this into their busy schedules. Walking to work is a way to make physical activity a part of your day. If your job is too far away from home it is recommended that you walk part of the way and then take public transportation for the rest of the trip or walk to lunch with your coworkers instead. Try to walk for at least 15 minutes both ways. Some cities and countries have their own version of this holiday, but it is generally celebrated on or around the first Friday in April.
