What a day to celebrate peace, a feast like no other! World Day of Peace is a glorious day held by the Roman Catholic Church that allows us to look upon the year ahead and before, with the grace of God. Every January 1st is when the celebration occurs for the Roman Catholics. This is the day on which declarations and celebration of peace occur.
History of World Day of Peace
World Day of Peace was first established by Pope Paul VI. He was inspired by the pacem in terris of Pope John XXIII, with reference to his own encyclical populorum progressio. These being the original inspiration for the day, this monumental day was created to acknowledge peace and to allow the declarations of the popes on this day. The day was established in 1967, however it was first observed on January 1st, 1968. This was soon made to be a special day for those who are of the Roman Catholic Church, as it is also the The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. This is a day celebrated under the Latin rite of Catholic Church.

This is a holiday that can be confused for World Peace Day, but the message of them both is the same. World Day of Peace is a day of remembrance and hope. A this is a day that brings everyone together for a feast, with food and being together as a whole, it will help bring everyone together for peace.
