World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is September 10th
Suicide is a leading cause of death for people all around the world. An estimated 800,000 people die by suicide each year and millions of other people are affected by suicide through attempts or the loss of loved ones. But suicide can be prevented if victims and their loved ones recognize the signs and take the right steps.
World Suicide Prevention Day is a holiday sponsored by the International Association for Suicide Prevention and designated by the United Nations to help raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented. The day focuses on educating people about how to prevent suicide and reaching out to those who need help.
